World War 1 veteran, served on the USS Nevada. The USS Nevada was the sister ship of the USS Oklahoma. Both ships were at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. The USS Nevada was the only battleship to start moving when the attack started and was hit by a torpedo and six bombs. After the war, it became a target ship at Bikini Atoll and hit by the blast from the nuclear bomb of Operation Crossroads.
