John Hunt Morgan was born in Huntsville, Alabama in 1825.Morgan was the first of 10 children. He enlisted in the U.S. Calvary in 1846 during the Mexican-American war, rising to first lieutenant right before the Battle Of Buena Vista.
Morgan is best known for the Morgan's Raid in 1863. The raid took place in Indiana and Ohio.

The raid took place from June 11th to July 26th, 1863. The raid came to an end in the Battle Of Buffington Island. During the battle Major Daniel McCook (of the Fighting McCooks) lost his life.
At one point, John Hunt Morgan was held at the old Ohio State Penitentiary in Columbus, Ohio. On November 27, 1863 he was able to escape. On September 4, 1864 was killed in Greeneville, Tennessee.
