Paul Lynde was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio. His Broadway career started with New Faces Of 1952. He was Harry McAfee in the musical Bye Bye Birdie and reprised the role in the film version.

One of Lynde's roles was that of Uncle Arthur on the TV show Bewitched.

Lynde was also known for his many appearances on Hollywood Squares.
