Brigadier General Joshua Sill was born in Chillicothe, Ohio.

Killed during the battle of Stones River by rifle fire.

Major General Philip Sheridan (who was raised in Somerset, Ohio) established Fort Sill in Oklahoma in 1869. Named in honor of Joshua Sill.

 James Forsyth may not be a household name but he is connected to the Civil War, an event in the Indian Wars and someone killed in the Indian Wars.

James Forsyth was born in 1835 in Maumee, Ohio. Forsyth was Colonel of the 64th OVI when the Civil War Started. 

Forsyth is seated on the left. One person he is connected to is George Armstrong Custer is laying down ton the right.

Forsyth eventually became Adjutant of General Philip Sheridan. General Sheridan is on the left. Forsyth is to the right of Sheridan. George Armstrong Custer is seated on the right.

In 1886, Forsyth became Colonel of the 7th U.S. Cavalry, Custer's old unit. This is where Forsyth becomes connected with an event that probably no one would want to be known for. On December 29, 1890, Forsyth was commanding officer of the 7th Cavalry at Wounded Knee. A confrontation with Black Coyote, a deaf indian set off the massacre.

Forsyth did have a brother die as a POW in the Civil War. George Forsyth is buried in Forest Cemetery in Toledo Ohio.
