Cy Young - Peoli Cemetery

Peoli Cemetery, Peoli Ohio. Peoli is one of those blink and you miss towns in Tuscarawas County, Ohio. It probably has about 10 houses total. It pretty much is in Amish country. Nothing to see other than cows and farmland.

Technically where Cy Young is buried would be a graveyard since it's attached to a church. The most famous permanent resident is Cy Young.

Young started with the Cleveland Spiders in 1890 and ended his career in 1911 with the Boston Rustlers, now the Atlanta Braves. He holds the records for most wins (511) and losses (316). Most people would think he would have been in the 1st induction class of the HOF in 1936. No, he was inducted in 1937. Walter Johnson and Christy Mathewson were inducted before Young, even though they had less wins.

There is a bench out in front of the graveyard. Photographed about half the graveyard and I went to go sit on the bench. About the same time a horse and buggy came by with an Amish guy driving and a couple kids in the back, The Amish guy was kinda looking over and waved. I waved back and smiled. The kids were giving the stink eye which I thought was funny.
