Mordecai Bartley was the 18th Governor of Ohio. His son, Thomas Bartley was the 17th Governor of Ohio. Mordecai Bartley served in the War of 1812 under William Henry Harrison. Bartley went on to serve in the Ohio Senate from 1816 to 1818. He also served in the United States House of Representatives from 1822 to 1830.
