Goshen Cemetery, Goshen Ohio

Goshen is one of those towns most people probably haven't heard of. Even people from Ohio would not know where it is. Goshen is located in northern Clermont county on State Route 28. It was founded in 1799.

Larry Goetz was a National League umpire from 1936 to 1957. He started out umpiring in the Blue Grass League in the 1920's. Goetz went on to umpire in the Western Ohio League, the Piedmont League and the American Association. Goetz missed the 1956 season due to illness and was fired in 1957.

While not the most well known umpire, Larry Goetz is in a Norman Rockwell painting. Bottom Of the Sixth from 1949. From left to right is Larry Goetz, Beans Reardon and Lou Jorda. The two managers are Billy Meyer of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Clyde Sukeforth of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Dixie Walker is in the lower left of the painting.
