Roger Bresnahan - Calvary Cemetery

Born in Toledo in 1879. While known as a catcher, Bresnahan started his major league career as a pitcher for the Washington Senators in 1897. 1898 to 1899, he played in the minor leagues.Bresnahan came buck up to the majors with the Baltimore Orioles of the American League. The 1901 and 1902 Baltimore Orioles moved to New York in 1903 and became the Yankees. From 1902 to 1908, he was the catcher for the New York Giants. 1909 to 1912 he was with the St. Cardinals.  Bresnahan finished his major league playing career the Chicago Cubs from 1912 to 1915.

At one point Bresnahan was an owner of the Toledo Mud Hens. After he sold the Mud Hens in 1924, he became a coach for the Giants from 1925 to 1928. He was also a coach for the Detroit Tigers in 1930 and 1931. Bresnahan died of a heart attack in 1944. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1944 by the Veterans Committee.
